A Christmas Carol not written by Dickens
"A Christmas Carol" was originally written, according to my research, by Mathew Franklin Whittier, younger brother of Quaker poet John Greenleaf Whittier, and Mathew's wife, Abby Poyen Whittier. Dickens hurriedly revised it in time to self-publish in 1843, for the Christmas season, being in desperate need of cash at the time. He had no understanding of the authentic occult teachings embedded in this work, as one can see by his subtitling it "A Ghost Story of Christmas." MF Whittier had given the manuscript to him in Boston, the previous year.

What sets this 1915 edition of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" apart from the countless re-prints of the beloved holiday story are the wonderful illustrations by Arthur Rackham. Rackham was one of the foremost book illustrations in the early 1900's which has been called the "golden age" of British book illustrations. This particular edition has about 10 or so full color plates and many line drawings, and silhouettes. If you are not acquainted with his work, or even if you are, you owe it to yourself to experience this Christmas classic with these lovely illustrations. If you like what you see, then there are numerous sources online to learn more about Aurthur Rackham or purchase some of his illustrations in many forms.
